Switzerland erupt for four late goals to top Group B; this morning Mexico meet South Korea

Switzerland beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in Group B. The match was goalless until the 73rd minute, when substitute Johan Manzambi volleyed in just 166 seconds after coming on. Bosnia's Tarik Muharemovic was then sent off on 80 minutes as the last man, and the Swiss pulled away: Ruben Vargas on 84, Manzambi's second on 90, then — after Ermin Mahmic pulled one back in stoppage time — Granit Xhaka rolled in a penalty. All five goals came after the 73rd minute, and Switzerland moved top of Group B.

In Group A, Czechia drew 1-1 with South Africa. Michal Sadilek struck inside six minutes, but Teboho Mokoena equalised from the penalty spot on 83 after a handball. Group A is now tight: Mexico and South Korea on three points, Czechia and South Africa on one, with all four still alive.

Japan today

Japan sit on one point after their 2-2 draw with the Netherlands. A scan confirmed an injury to Takefusa Kubo's left knee; he has stayed with the squad and is being treated, but no recovery timeline has been announced. Japan's next match is against Tunisia in Monterrey on 21 June at 1pm (JST), and Kubo's availability remains uncertain.
